ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER CEC 625

  • A valid permit and plans must be on-site R106.3.1
  • Verify mfg installation instructions
  • Manufacturer’s instructions must be left with the unit CRC R106.2
  • All receptacles installed for the connection of EV charging shall be GFCI-protected CEC 625.54
  • Disconnect required for EV > 60 amps CEC 625.43 must also comply with CEC 110.25 The means to lock must be an integral part of the enclosure. A portable locking device is NOT acceptable.
  • New construction ADU does not require an EV charger
  • Suitable for environment (indoor/outdoor)
  • Indoor coupling height 18-48”
  • Outdoor coupling height 24-48”
  • Cable length 25’ unless equipped with a cable management system
  • Verify branch circuit conductors sized 125% of max
  • Provide working clearances at all electrical equipment (36” deep x 30” wide)
  • Subject to vehicular damage provide bollard (4” diameter steel pipe filled with concrete, ≥ 40” above finished grade, imbedded in footing measuring 12” in diameter and 3’ deep)
